SG1842/43 control ICs are designed to provide essential features for the implementation of off-line fixed frequency, current-mode switching power supplies with minimal external components. The current-mode architecture offers various advantages such as improved line regulation, load regulation, pulse-by-pulse current limiting, and protection of the power supply output switch. Moreover, the band-gap reference is trimmed to ±1% over temperature, ensuring precise and consistent performance. The oscillator discharge current is also trimmed to less than ±10%, contributing to the overall stability and accuracy of the system. Additionally, the SG1842/43 incorporates under-voltage lockout, current limiting circuitry, and a start-up current of less than 1mA. The totem-pole output is optimized for driving the gate of a power MOSFET and offers a low off-state output to facilitate direct interface with an N-channel device. These control ICs are tailored to operate in extreme environmental conditions, with the SG1842/43 specified for the full military ambient temperature range of -55°C to 125°C, the SG2842/43 for the industrial range of -25°C to 85°C, and the SG3842/43 for the commercial range of 0°C to 70°C
